INtransit V.7: Ecology/Ecología

What is ecology? What are examples of different kinds of ecologies? How can ecologies be found in the movement of materials and energy through living communities?  How are ecologies constructed and shaped by society, culture, power, gender, and other forces? This issue of INtransit V.7: Ecology/Ecología will examine the concept of “ecology” throughout the continental Americas, using a bilingual and multicultural approach.  Points of departure can include art and ecosystems, eco-criticism, ecologies of the street, eco-feminism and other ideas.

This is the second in a series of media and conceptual remixes of the
magazine Scientific American.  Using as a starting point the questions
“What is American Science?, What is a scientific American?”, AstroDime
continues to explore the intersections of art and science in the
continental Americas.

THE DETAILS:
Works should be under 10 minutes, or be able to be excerpted (please indicate which). Submissions should be by snail mail, and on DVD, VHS, or mini-DV, and will also be considered for other issues. Physical submissions much preferred to web URL’s.

People who are selected for publishing will receive 3 copies of the journal and $50.00 US. We will be actively promoting the work on these journals and will also inform you if the journals play in different venues. Deadline is March 15, 2011.

documentadores, y cineastas: INtransit V.7 Ecology/Ecología

¿Qué es la ecología? ¿Cuáles son ejemplos de diferentes tipos de
ecología? ¿Cómo se pueden encontrar las ecologías por medio del movimiento de materiales y energía entre las comunidades vivientes? ¿Cómo influyen las fuerzas de la sociedad, la cultura, el poder, y el género en la construcción y la formación de ecologías?

Este número de InTransit V.7: Ecology / Ecología examinará el
concepto de “ecología” en toda la América continental utilizando un
enfoque bilingüe y multicultural. Puntos de partida pueden incluir el
arte y los ecosistemas, la crítica ecológica, ecologías callejeras,
el eco-feminismo y otras ideas.

Este es el segundo volumen de la serie de video y remixes conceptuales de la revista Scientific American. Utilizando como punto de partida las siguientes preguntas “¿Qué es la ciencia Americana?, ¿Qué es un
